Greetings from the CAEDHH-BC executive! 

We wanted to share an update regarding CAEDHH-BC & CAEDHH-National and who is doing what regarding conference and membership. 

In previous years, CAEDHH-BC has taken the lead in hosting the annual conference. More recently, CAEDHH National has joined in supporting these efforts. This year marks a transition, as CAEDHH National begins taking on a central role in hosting the conference annually, in collaboration with TDHH groups across Canada. We’re excited to share that British Columbia is once again partnering in this year’s event.

The conference, which will include a CAEDHH National complimentary membership again this year, will be $75. Please note the payment will need to be made directly to CAEDHH National once their registration link becomes available (within the next few days).

Beginning this year, the CAEDHH-BC membership fee will be separate from the annual conference registration.

So…Why should I become a CAEDHH BC member? 

We get it- Life is expensive these days. We wouldn’t ask for membership fees unless it wasn’t absolutely essential in order to run CAEDHH-BC. 

CAEDHH-BC meets monthly to discuss issues in Deaf Education, plan for advocacy, share resources(stored on TEAMS)  and organize coffee hours which allows us to stay connected with other TDHH colleauges. As teachers of the deaf and hard of hearing, we all value accessibility for all and it is imperative that we have funds available for ASL interpreting and CART services for these monthly meetings. 

Lastly, every June, we give out $200 scholarships to approximately 5 graduating DHH students. We are thrilled to be able to invest in the next generation and support these students as they transition into adulthood.

The work you do as a TDHH with and for your students is invaluable and we can all agree that we are stronger together!
